Promoting Peace Through Sports

The Sammy Kiplimo Foundation organised a peace tournament in Arror, Elgeyo Marakwet County, Kenya aimed at promoting peace. The tournament targeted residents of Baringo and Elgeyo Marakwet Counties. The residents were urged to embrace peace and focus on the empowerment of the Boy Child, a move that will lead to a decline in the cases of perennial ethnic clashes as well cattle rustling.

Speaking during the tournament, the organisation’s founder, Mr. Sammy Kiplimo told residents to ensure that male children in the region are enrolled in learning institutions together with other empowerment programs so that they can stay away from guns and cattle rustling activities. “Our main focus is to ensure the boychild is empowered. Those in the cattle rustling business are using our boys to advance their illegal activities in this region and that must stop. We can only do that by identifying the root cause and deal with it firmly.” Mr. Kiplimo said.

Mr. Kiplimo also informed the residents that his foundation will continue to organise sports tournaments to tap the talents of the youth, and, ensure that talented players are enrolled in sports clubs and get other sponsorship opportunities.

“We shall engage our partners further and ensure that this talent display do not end up in Baringo or Marakwet,we are dribbling them further to other opportunities.” He added.
